When can you transplant peonies?

Fall is probably the best time as they start to go dormant. You can take a knife and cut a large root clump apart into multiple plants. Make sure you measure how deep the top of the plant was from the soil surface, usually an inch or less, and make sure you replant at the same depth-- had one for years that never bloomed, moved it and replanted, found out then it was too deep--- have had the same one or cuttings for over 35 years, blooms very profusely. Good luck!

I believe now is a good time and in the spring but often they will not bloom. I have done both times and it worked. Make sure you do not go down too deep.
