Book Recommendations?
Confessions of a shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella.....

She has lots of books they will make you laugh and they are so fun and fast to read....

The Way Men Act by Elinor Lipman...is a forbidden love type book
Reply:A Great and Terrible Beauty by Bray (this is a series with some romance and supernatural elements, with a female main character)

The Golden Compass by Pullman (this is a series that is pure fantasy, no romance, incredibly inventive, extremely well written, with a female main character)

anything by Scott Westerfeld ("cooler" fantasy books: Peeps is a vampire novel, and also the Midnighters series and the Uglies series)

Wuthering Heights (my favorite Victorian romance, with "real" people as the main characters: headstrong, passionate, selfish, kind of unlikeable, but madly in love)
Reply:Asylum by Patrick McGrath. A psychiatrist's wife in love with a criminally insane patient! Also, Port Mungo and The Grotesque (two books) by the same author.

Atonement by Ian McEwan. Very sad, doomed romance.

Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx and The City and the Pillar by Gore Vidal are tragic gay love stories.

What was she Thinking?: Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller. Teacher/student romance and creepy, obsessive "friendship."

Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. More tragically doomed love.
Reply:I love " the outsiders" and " a child called it ",both of them made me cry ^_^. i'm actually a bit of a reader myself ,try the "merlin series" ," the shadow children's series ( oh my God those are some good *** books )

Brave new world , the Daren Shawn Cirque du freak series manymore man.
Reply:One of my favourites is Cashelmara by Susan Howatch as well as her other books. If you like "forbidden love", then you will like her books.

Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is a classic.

Another of my favourites was The Stepford Wives.
Reply:If you enjoyed 'The Giver', try the sequels, 'Gathering Blue' and 'The Messenger'. They wrap up the story nicely.
Reply:lolita, which really is forbidden love (a guy's obsession with a 12 year old girl). shocking, awful, but brilliant

the great gatsby

les enfents terribles (english translation)

the loved one

brave new world

1984

drak materials trilogy (i haven't read it but its sposed to be good and i bet u have read it)
Reply:I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.

I would recommend "A Spell for Chameleon" because of your interests. The main character is engaged, but he appears to have no magical talent - and anyone non-magical is exiled. So, he goes on a quest to discover his talent. He has to overcome many trials, which include staying faithful to his finacé.

I hope this helps.

Reply:Friction by E.R Frank: About a girl who gets confused about her relationship with a male teacher when a new students begins spreading rumors

Genre: Drama

My thoughts: 10/10. This book will blow your mind!
Reply:"Tai Pan" by James Clavell... (excellent adventure on the high seas %26amp; more adventure in a fictional account of the very first start of what is now Hong Kong. Full of fantastic happenings and forbidden romance for the mature reader of any age)

"Rumblefish" by S.E. Hinton

"Gone With the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell, when you're ready for the long, classic read about romance and war...

"Interiew With a Vampire" by Anne Rice, not for the faint-hearted or teen reader... but a classic must-read for vampire fanciers.

"Once and Future King" by TH White, considered THE book about the legend of Camelot... fantasy and forbidden love, good at nearly any age. It's one of my favorites.
Reply:I see you like the Outsiders - by S.E. Hinton - What about "That was then, this is now" ? Also by Hinton, it's a great read with alot of the same characters that are in the Outsiders.

There is a childrens author, Judy Blume - she is fantastic, she also has a few adult romance novels. I cannot recall their titles, but it would be easy enough to google.

The Notebook - OMG - what a fantastic read, loved loved loved the book - hated the movie. It didn't do it justice!!
Reply:Naughts %26amp; Crosses by Malorie Blackman

Children of the River by Linda Crew

Ghost Boy by Ian Lawrence

Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

  1. This is a great reading list! There are some excellent choices here that will provide many hours of happy reading!

I have another recommendation for you that would be for the young adult+ age groups. It's Bloodline: Alliance by L.R. Saul. It's a mysterious fantasy novel with a message. The characters are authentic and it's a real page turner with lots of twists that keep you guessing. An all around great read with a message that is a metaphor for our own reality. A stunning book and I highly recommend it!

    Take care, and happy reading!
