What's the best way to support peonies?

With all this rain, they just got out of control. There's no way I'll get a cage around them. I have twine, old nylons and I also have some 18" wire fencing that I think I can separate into sections. Which method do you think is best?

You need to use tomato cages on them shortly AFTER then begin to show in the spring. Otherwise, just cut off the flowers and put them in a cheap vase and share with friends and neighbors until next year!
Reply:Go and find or buy some sticks that are around 3-4 feet tall or get some that are longer and cut them down to size. Take a hammer and drive them into the ground around your peonies, about 6 inches should do it, take the twine or nylons (twine will hide better) tie a knot around stick number one, bring it to stick number two, loop it around then go on to stick number three and loop around it, then on to stick four and loop around it as well. Make sure it is tight, but not tight enought to pull the sticks out of the ground. Bring it back to stick number one and tie off the end. Do this about 4-6 inches below were the plant curnetly is as the plant will still grow taller. It will bush out to cover the twine and you will hardly even tell that it is there.
Reply:If you have some old lattice pieces around use them. Either stand it up on end or cut and use fence like and tie them too it. I found this works well with so many flowers. I have my glads planted against it. Ties easy, cut loose after they are finished blooming. I sometimes buy a whole sheet just to have it on hand to cut up for that reason. You know they have the PVC kind that last forever almost. (I use that kind instead of wood, it looks very nice and neat)

Reply:you have to tie them before they even pop u have to take twine and wrap it around them and tie them together. My peno uis by a fence and we tie it around it and tie it to the fence. when they pop they will stazy together
